Villa Marina is situated at Hibberdene on the Kwazulu-Natal southcoast of South Africa, 80 km south of Durban and 40 km north of Margate.
For an unforgettable holiday in one of the South Coast's best holiday spots, Hibberdene will have you come back again and again.
The unit consist of 3 bedrooms, 2½ bathrooms and 1 lock up garage. Also available is a loose standing braai. A maid will be available on request for your account. A servants room is available.
Where we are..
Nestled on the bank of the Mzimayi River, but also overlooking the ocean, this affordable holiday duplex flat will give you the best views imaginable.
With the beach and shopping area only a five minute walk from your doorstep and excellent views from almost every window, Villa Marina promises to give you the tranquility and peace that you deserve throughout your hard earned holiday.
During high season there are other tenants as well and it might become busy with al the young people and children, but out of season it is calm and quite.
About the unit.
A beautiful patio overlooking both the river as well as a 90° sea view (which includes breathtaking breaker views) will
quickly become the ultimate center of your holiday where hours will be spent with family and friends. Early morning coffee on the patio will soon become a habit.
Dolphins can be seen playing in the breakers in the early mornings from the patio, as well as the two eastern facing bedrooms. Whales are also often spotted by the flapping of their tail fins or by the spray of water which can rises about 3 to 6 meters above the water surface.
This lovely 3 bedroomed duplex apartment boasts 2 full bathrooms on the top floor, with the kitchen, dining room, lounge and additional toilet on the ground floor. Two of the bedrooms on the top floor have double beds and the third room has two single beds. In the lounge are two couches which can be converted in double beds which means that, in total, the apartment sleeps 10 people comfortably. The kitchen however is equipped to cater for 12 people.
A reliable cleaning lady will be available at your request, for your account, from 09h00 to 13h00, on the days you request, to make the beds, clean the apartment in general, sweep floors and wash the dishes. Linen will be supplied for all beds, but not for the sleeper couches in the lounge. Linen will be changed once a week during your stay. A servants room is available on the premises, please make arrangements early for availability of the room!!
The Surrounding area..
The Hibberdene Business area will meet all your shopping needs with a Spar & O K Foods (both with an in-house butchery). There are also two Bottle Stores, a Pharmacy, a Laundromat, Take Aways, Restaurants, Video Shops, Hairdressers, three different ATM's, Hardware Store, Mechanical Workshops & Auto Electricians. Hours will be spend lingering in the beautiful little shops for Arts & Crafts, Beach necessities, Clothes & Sweets.
Lifesavers are on duty throughout the year from 09h00 to 17h00, with changing rooms, ablution facilities, a tuck shop and a medical clinic on the beach - which has BLUE FLAG status for the past few years. Beer Festivals, Beach Parties, & Live Shows are just a few activities arranged in season for the youngsters, but a Super Tube & Putt-Putt Range will provide great fun for the
whole family all year around.
A Bar and Restaurant on the beachfront will keep Mom and Dad busy while the kids enjoy the fun in the breakers or in the play park. Beautiful handmade beadwork and other arts are on display daily by hawkers on the beach. Watchful car guards will be watching your car should you prefer to drive to the beach.
Activities..
Fishing is popular from the beach in the very early mornings but there are rocks from where anglers can try their
luck. Early mornings the fishing boats are set afloat in the river right in front of the apartment and return late in the afternoons where you can then buy fresh fish from them. If you have your own boat and want to go deep sea-fishing, our agent will assist you with the arrangements as her husband has his own boat. Scuba diving sessions can be arranged by contacting Louis Koekemoer.
Every year, during June & July, huge numbers of silvery pilchards, locally known as sardines travel from the cold southern oceans off Cape Point, moving inshore up the Transkei and Kwazulu Natal coastlines in what is commonly known as the annual sardine run - resulting ultimately in "Sardine Fever". This incredible natural phenomenon of millions of fish brings with it huge influx of marine activity for they are followed by a frenzy of game fish, dolphins, sharks and birds. Along with it comes another creature - kindly referred to as the tourist.
During this time of year nature puts on a wonderful display with birds diving into the ocean from lofty heights. Some years up to 3000 Bottlenose dolphins have been seen wave jumping and surfing in the translucent waves, as well as whales basking off shore - one of the most extraordinary sights of the sardine run.
